Due to me being sick, I have been unable to update this page for some time.
While I was home for the holidays, I made a trip to the Cambria County Court
House. I went to both the Tax Assessment Office and the Recorder of Deeds
Office. I spent only a few moments at each place before I had to leave due to
being sick. I will plan a trip back there later.
I am very excited to be posting this update. I have been making phone calls to
just about anyone I can find who may have been crucial in either the planning,
construction, or just plain overseeing of the mall. I am very happy to say
I got in contact with one of the gentlemen that helped plan the design and
construction of the mall, and was also the imaging force behind Richie the Pook
(who's website is here),
Mr. James O'Rourke. He seemed to be excited that I am taking on this project and
agreed to sit down with me to talk about the mall, go thru what he has, and I
assume, give me overall advice about mall. I am hoping to sit down with him in
in the next month or so.
Also, as you can see, the links to the left are not up and running yet. They
will be soon.

As you see this page is still under construction. Soon it will house as much as
I can find about the old, forgotten, and now gone Richland Mall that was in
Maybe you remember its last days, maybe you remember Hot Sams, KarmelKorn,
National Record Mart or Circus World, maybe you remember the mall before it had
the Merry Go Round in the middle or maybe you remember it when it first opened
and Richie The Pook was its mascot. No matter what your memories are of, if they
are like mine, they are found memories of your childhood or days past.
Whatever your memories are, I would like to have them to place on my site.
Whether it’s a remembrance of your time spent there like this,
or whether it’s a picture or something unusual, I would like to have them. (So
far I need to thank Carol at Richland Twp. Supervisors Office for some photos
that she sent me.)
Please contact me at webmaster@therichlandmall.com
with whatever you have. If they are photos that need scanned, I would be happy
to do that and return them in the same condition sent. I will post any links you
can find, along with photos and stories.
I will be posting what I have within the month. I have photos of the mall at
ground breaking and when it was being torn down. I have some video too, along
with my own recollections. In time I will have a forum and a few other links.
Why am I doing this some 5+ years AFTER the mall is gone? I don’t know. Call
it a childhood memory I don’t want to forget, call it a challenge, or call it
too much time on my hands, but its something I want to do and we will see where
it takes me.
Remember, ANYTHING you have can be sent to webmaster@therichlandmall.com
If you would like to be put on the mailing list as to when the site is updated,
